App Testing 101

Here at Bimi Boo Kids, we know that giving a child the opportunity to learn is the best gift you can ever give. As parents ourselves, we want to make apps that are good and useful for our own children. We want real teaching tools that help children learn and have fun. We want something that they would want to come back to each and every day. We make sure there is an educational element to every single decision. But no matter how much we love creating an educational app, we know it is more important for our target audience to approve. That’s why App Testing is a vital and important part of our app creation process. We knew that if we wanted to create a truly educational app, we would need the help of some very interested little learners. So we enlisted the help of kiddos to actually test the apps out before they make it to the public. Our App Testing happens in 4 Very Important Steps. Let’s take a closer look at the process of how app testing works and how it means big benefits for your child’s education.

Step 1: Getting Together

When we think about creating a new and interesting learning app for our audience, we make sure to do our research so that we can provide the best educational tools possible. Before we begin the development process, we work with specialists in child development to seek the newest and most innovative ways to impact a child’s learning. Then, we test the idea with parents and kids. In fact, kids are our toughest critics. They are involved in each step of the development: the game idea, the mock-ups, the characters and the animation. The opinion of our tiniest developers is the most important step for every milestone of app development.

Step 2: Fine Tuning

After an app is created (and kid tested and parent-approved), our talented team of designers and Quality Assurance testers takes time to sort through all of the app’s features. They test for good working quality. They tune the music and sound to run smoothly. They debug any problems that are found with the running of the game and finally they search for any weak spots in the app. Then all of their recommendations are fixed in the system and ready for further rounds of testing.

Step 3: Closed Alfa Testing

Once the app is fine-tuned and working smoothly, it’s time to be tested by the Bimi Boo Team Members. The app is simulated in a lab-like setting as if real users were playing the app. The team members use the app and all of its features to ensure that everything is working properly and that all features can be accessed easily and efficiently. They report back if there are any issues going on that need to be handled before the next round of testing. During this round, we usually acquire great feedback and iron out any kinks in the app.

Step 4: Closed Beta Testing (With Kids!)

For our most important part of the app testing process, we bring in the real judges (kids!) to try out the app to make sure it is easily understood, is navigation-friendly and is most importantly, fun and exciting to play. Of all the testing we do, we value the feedback from our tiniest judges the most! We know this is the part that sets our apps apart – we not only develop the app for kids but together with kids.

At Bimi Boo, we pride ourselves in offering smart solutions for parents and kids. Our model of app testing sets a standard for quality and education that we intend to keep using in every aspect of our teaching tools. As we venture into creating educational toys and resources, we will hold our production and testing to these same high standards. Thanks for being with us and taking a peek into our operations here at Bimi Boo, we’re so thankful to have supporters like you.
